Georgia Tech Continues Recruiting Surge with Commitment from Massive In-State OT Braylin Mills

By Luke Fletcher | Atlanta, Georgia

Georgia Tech’s recruiting momentum under head coach Brent Key continues to surge. The Yellow Jackets added another significant piece to their rapidly growing 2027 recruiting class on Saturday when Houston County offensive tackle Braylin Mills announced his commitment to Georgia Tech. The towering lineman gives the Jackets another highly coveted prospect from the state of Georgia and further reinforces the program’s emphasis on building from the trenches outward.

At approximately 6-foot-6 and over 330 pounds, Mills possesses the size, strength, and physical upside that offensive line coaches covet at the Power Four level. His commitment comes after a strong recruiting battle that saw numerous programs pursue the Houston County standout. Mills accumulated more than 20 scholarship offers during his recruitment, including opportunities from several major programs across the Southeast. ( Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Texas, and Nebraska)

For Georgia Tech, this commitment represents much more than adding another name to the recruiting board. Mills is regarded as one of the more intriguing offensive line prospects in Georgia’s 2027 class. His combination of length, frame, and natural power gives him tremendous developmental upside. While still early in his high school career, recruiters have been drawn to his ability to overwhelm defenders at the point of attack and his potential to develop into a dominant edge protector at the collegiate level.

The commitment also continues a growing trend for Georgia Tech: keeping top in-state talent at home. Since taking over the program, Brent Key has consistently emphasized winning at the line of scrimmage. A former offensive lineman himself, Key has prioritized recruiting and developing elite talent in the trenches. The addition of Mills fits perfectly into that blueprint and provides another foundation piece for the future of the Yellow Jackets’ offense.

The Yellow Jackets have made Georgia recruiting a central pillar of their roster-building strategy, and that approach is beginning to pay dividends. Mills joins a growing list of Georgia prospects who have chosen to stay in-state and help build the future of the program on The Flats.

Perhaps most encouraging for Georgia Tech fans is the momentum currently surrounding the 2027 class. Mills becomes the latest addition in what has been an active stretch on the recruiting trail for the Jackets, who have secured multiple commitments in recent days and continue to generate excitement among prospects visiting Atlanta.

For a program looking to build upon its recent success and continue climbing the ACC ladder, securing players like Braylin Mills is exactly the type of recruiting victory needed to sustain long-term growth. With the addition of the massive Houston County offensive tackle, the Yellow Jackets have climbed into the national recruiting conversation. Following Mills’ pledge, Georgia Tech’s 2027 class now sits at No. 26 nationally according to both 247Sports and On3’s team recruiting rankings, placing the Yellow Jackets among the nation’s fastest-rising classes and firmly in the upper tier of the ACC.

The message from Brent Key and his staff is becoming increasingly clear: Georgia Tech intends to win battles for elite talent in its own backyard, and the commitment of Braylin Mills is another sign that recruits are buying into that vision.
