So far, he’s completed 41 of 65 passes for 547 yards, with four touchdowns and two interceptions. For Auburn, the game plan is clear: they need to make Curtis feel like a rookie. DJ Durkin’s defense must apply pressure, force tough third downs, and stop Vanderbilt from establishing a running game to keep Auburn on their toes.

Byrum Brown could be the difference

Auburn fans have reason to feel optimistic about quarterback Byrum Brown as he heads into the game against Vanderbilt. With 756 passing yards and five touchdowns, plus 180 rushing yards and two more scores, his dual-threat capability is something Vanderbilt will have to consider on every play. They can’t just sit back in coverage and hope he throws an interception; he has the knack for turning a broken play into a significant gain. Now, Vanderbilt comes in with an unbeaten record, having secured a wild 35–31 win over NC State, where they scored the game-winning touchdown by recovering a fumble in the end zone at the last second after overcoming a 17-point deficit. Auburn can’t just write off Vanderbilt’s 3–0 start as a fluke; the Commodores are having their best season in years, led by five-star freshman quarterback Jared Curtis, who is making his second start after throwing for 277 yards and three touchdowns, despite a couple of interceptions.

Three keys for Auburn

1. Pressure Curtis. His talent is obvious, but Jordan-Hare is an entirely different environment from what the freshman has experienced so far.
2. Protect Brown. Auburn cannot continue surrendering sacks at its current rate, particularly against a Vanderbilt defense that has demonstrated it can create pressure.
3. Finish drives. Auburn scored plenty against Florida but couldn’t overcome its defensive problems. Against Vanderbilt, touchdowns rather than field-goal attempts can create the separation Auburn needs.

Auburn is really feeling the pressure after their recent loss to Florida, and they’re eager to turn things around. Their defense had a rough outing, missing a staggering 22 tackles, which they need to fix fast. On the other hand, Vanderbilt’s defense has been impressive, racking up 12 sacks in just three games, and they’ll be looking to put the heat on Auburn’s quarterback, Byrum Brown, while also trying to shut down the running game. This isn’t just a walk in the park for Auburn; Vanderbilt has beaten them twice in a row and is still undefeated, plus their quarterback, Curtis, is showing promise. However, this game presents a chance for Auburn to bounce back.
