Georgia Tech’s 2025 Season: A Rebirth of Gold and White

By Luke Fletcher | Atlanta, GA

Forget what you thought you knew about Georgia Tech football. The 2025 Yellow Jackets made a statement. After an electrifying 8–0 start, their best since 1966, and a  4–0 start in conference play (marked the Jackets’ best conference opening in 27 years), propelled them into the national Top 10 and turned heads across college football. Fans haven’t just been cheering on the Flats they’ve been buzzing, knowing something special is happening in midtown Atlanta.

Sure, the loss to Pitt & Georgia the last two weeks have shown all there’s still work to do. But 2025 isn’t about proving the past, it’s about rewriting the future. The era of struggles under former coach Geoff Collins is officially over. The Yellow Jackets are back, the excitement is real, and the promise is palpable.

Even with a 9–3 regular season record (6-2 in ACC play), there’s reason for optimism and excitement, for what’s next. The Yellow Jackets are heading to the postseason, with a chance to notch double-digit wins for the first time since 2014. Historically, ACC bowl assignments consider overall performance, conference standing, fan travel, and matchup appeal. Based on simulations that factor in season-end chaos and typical bowl priorities, the Yellow Jackets have three likely landing spots:

  • Gator Bowl (ACC vs. SEC): 23% chance
  • Holiday Bowl (ACC vs. at-large / former Pac-12): 23% chance
  • Duke’s Mayo Bowl (ACC vs. SEC): 21% chance

The Gator and Holiday Bowls offer attractive matchups and travel opportunities, potentially pitting Georgia Tech against SEC or Pac-12 teams in high-profile settings. The Duke’s Mayo Bowl, which has often has overlooked the Yellow Jackets in past years, may feel like a letdown for fans on the Flats and many may choose not travel to that destination. (interesting story line to watch) While the final assignment isn’t set in stone, fans have reason to be optimistic about a quality postseason experience. The ultimate selection will come down to conference standings, committee priorities, and the evolving bowl landscape over the next week. A strong bowl showing could also help Georgia Tech reach double-digit wins for the first time since 2014 and it strengthens the foundation of the program. It validates progress, attracts talent, energizes fans and alumni, and builds a stronger base for future success. Go Jackets!
