Georgia Tech, undefeated/ranked #8, is gearing up to fend off a potential upset from the Wolfpack.

Atlanta – Top-10 Georgia Tech hits the road to face NC State in a crucial ACC matchup under the lights in Raleigh. The Yellow Jackets bring a balanced offense led by QB Haynes King and one of the conference’s most efficient rushing attacks, while NC State aims to spoil the party with its stingy front seven and opportunistic defense. The battle in the trenches—Tech’s O-line versus the Wolfpack’s pass rush—could decide it all. If Georgia Tech controls the tempo and limits turnovers, they’ll stay unbeaten; but if NC State forces mistakes, an upset is in play. Expect a hard-hitting, field-position chess match with bowl and playoff implications on the line.

The Yellow Jackets (8-0, 5-0 ACC) have had their share of nail-biters this season, but last week’s 41-16 victory over Syracuse was a different story. King’s Heisman candidacy got a significant boost with his impressive outing, racking up 395 total yards—304 through the air and 91 on the ground—while scoring all five of Georgia Tech’s touchdowns with three passing and two rushing.

Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh has a history of surprising outcomes, making it unwise to underestimate the Wolfpack, particularly during night games when the home crowd is at its most passionate.

NC State returns home after a couple of tough road games, with a week off in between. Unfortunately, the Wolfpack lost both matchups, falling to Notre Dame on October 11 and then to Pitt on October 25, where they were defeated 53-34. Since September 20, their record stands at 1-4. The team has the offensive potential to turn things around, especially if quarterback CJ Bailey can perform at his peak. In the recent game against Pitt, Bailey threw three touchdown passes without any interceptions, a bounce-back from his previous outing where he threw three picks against Notre Dame. However, he completed only 24 of 40 passes for 225 yards, averaging a modest 5.6 yards per attempt, a drop from his season average of 8.6 yards per attempt.

The matchup between Georgia Tech’s offense and NC State’s defense is likely to be the key factor in this game. The Yellow Jackets have consistently demonstrated a high success rate and are increasingly showcasing a dynamic offensive strategy. On the other hand, the Wolfpack’s pass defense raises some red flags, particularly when it comes to allowing big plays, which gives Georgia Tech a significant edge in the passing game.
