ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s homecoming is a beloved tradition that sports fans eagerly await, featuring a week filled with time-honored customs that lead up to the big football game. Since its inception in 1920, this celebration has brought together alumni and students, fostering a sense of community and pride in the school’s “White and Gold” colors. For those sidewalk fans attending and who have children who are considering in application to Georgia Tech for 2025, 2026, or 2027, there are a couple of highlights not to miss. The Mini 500 is a thrilling tricycle race held around the Peters Parking Deck, where teams compete in a fast-paced challenge that includes driver swaps and tire changes. Additionally, the Ramblin’ Wreck Parade showcases the creativity of Georgia Tech’s engineering students, who craft and drive their own human-powered contraptions alongside classic cars, making for a truly unique experience.

Georgia Tech has kicked off its season with an impressive seven-game winning streak, a feat not achieved since 1966. With four conference games left before facing No. 5 Georgia on November 28, the seventh-ranked Yellow Jackets are eager to maintain their perfect record this Saturday against Syracuse. Currently, the Yellow Jackets stand as the only unbeaten team in the ACC, having recently defeated Duke 27-18 on the road, which marked Duke’s first conference loss of the year. After trailing by three points late in the third quarter, Georgia Tech rallied with 20 unanswered points to secure the win as underdogs. Quarterback Haynes King has been instrumental, leading the team in both passing and rushing yards, totaling 325 yards in the game against Duke.

Syracuse’s season is starting to unravel. Initially expected to have a dynamic offense capable of challenging defenses with explosive passing plays, the team now finds itself in a precarious position with a young and inexperienced quarterback lineup. Improvement is crucial if they hope to turn things around, especially with three ranked opponents looming in the next month. This week poses another challenge as they face one of the top rushing quarterbacks in the ACC. Syracuse’s defense has struggled, ranking in the lower half of college football by allowing an average of 270 passing yards and 151 rushing yards per game. Quarterback King is poised for a standout performance, having already thrown for 1,176 yards and rushed for 560 yards this season. On a brighter note, Syracuse’s pass rush has shown promise, keeping the game competitive against Pittsburgh in the first half, led by Kevin Jobity Jr. with three sacks. However, containing King will be a much tougher task.

Why is Georgia Tech a 2 score favorite? The Yellow Jackets excel in the red zone, converting 96.3% of their opportunities, which places them ninth in the FBS. In contrast, the Orange struggle defensively, allowing scores on 92.0% of their opponents’ red-zone chances, ranking them 115th in college football. Georgia Tech also boasts a strong offensive performance, averaging 462.4 yards per game, good for 19th in the FBS, while Syracuse’s defense gives up 421.9 yards per game, making them the 12th most permissive in the league. On the ground, the Yellow Jackets average 6.0 yards per rush, ranking sixth nationally, whereas the Orange allow 4.6 yards per carry, placing them 100th. Overall, Georgia Tech’s offense ranks 31st in the FBS with an average of 35.3 points per game, while Syracuse’s defense sits at 108th, permitting 29.9 points per game.

If Georgia Tech continues their current performance, they should effectively manage the clock with their running game, capitalize on turnovers against an inexperienced quarterback, and seize opportunities for big plays. This strategy could pave the way for a Yellow Jacket victory.
