2025 Signing Day Spotlight: Georgia Tech’s Top 25 recruiting class

Georgia Tech’s achievement in securing its most successful recruiting class in over 15 years reflects a series of favorable developments, primarily rooted within the state. The standout signees, defensive back Tae Harris and offensive lineman Josh Petty, exemplify this success. Both players presented significant challenges for the Yellow Jackets; however, Brent Key and his coaching team successfully competed against Clemson to secure Harris and fended off numerous rivals to retain Petty. Additionally, other recruits like Dalen Penson (USC), Christian Garrett (Georgia), and Derry Norris (Michigan) were also targeted by various programs, yet they remained committed to Georgia Tech. A total of twenty-three high school seniors, among them five from the esteemed ESPN 300, have signed to join Georgia Tech and compete in football for the Yellow Jackets in 2025.

The five prospects listed in the ESPN300 rankings are #22 offensive lineman Josh Petty from Roswell, Georgia, attending Fellowship Christian Academy; #48 defensive back Tae Harris from Cedartown, Georgia, representing Cedartown High School; #148 defensive tackle Christian Garrett, from Bogart, Georgia attending Prince Avenue Christian School; #163 offensive guard Peyton Joseph from Warner Robins, Georgia, representing Houston County High School; and #186 defensive back Dalen Penson from Tyrone, Georgia, from Sandy Creek High School. Notably, both Josh Petty and Tae Harris rank as the highest ESPN300 signees in the program’s history, with Petty being the first five-star recruit to join the Yellow Jackets since Calvin Johnson, a College and Pro Football Hall of Famer.

Georgia Tech’s recruiting class is currently ranked 22nd nationally by 247Sports and placed 3rd in the ACC, trailing only Miami and Florida State. This class holds the potential to significantly influence Georgia Tech’s future. It represents the highest ranking for the program since the 2007 class, which featured future All-Americans and NFL stars such as Morgan Burnett, Jonathan Dwyer, and Derrick Morgan. Twelve out of the 23 signees will begin their enrollment at Georgia Tech in January, engaging in all football-related activities during the spring semester, which includes spring practice. The remaining members of the class are scheduled to arrive at Tech in the summer, prior to the 2025 season.
